What's on at the library
Art @ the Library
In 2020 Westland Arts Incorporated and Westland District Library collaborated to make a free exhibition space available in the library.
Art @ the Library is a small, nimble and flexible project that aims to provide exhibition space for artistic and innovative proposals.
Current Exhibit:
New Paintings
by Robert Oakly
About the artist:
This is Robert Oakly’s first exhibition. He has loved painting since childhood and has returned to it at various times over the past ten years. Encouraged by Westland District library staff to exhibit, Robert has brought together this collection of new artworks on canvas.
His love of colour is evident throughout these paintings, with a deliberate use of a wide spectrum in each piece. He draws inspiration from the world around him, particularly the West Coast and the mountains.
Robert’s work is becoming increasingly bold and abstract, and he plans to continue painting—so watch this space!

1. Lake Matheson – Reflections.
2. The Rimu lookout
3. Rimu Goldfields
4. Going over the hill
5. Foxgloves on the Rimu Goldfields
